HOCET began as a modest daycare center with just 12 children, and while it is grown immensely, our daycare center now cares for 18 children, and is called the HOCET City Center
The City Center is located in Hananasif, Kinondoni, Dar es Salaam at plot no.987, Mkunguni Street. This is the center which has been raising kids who later join HOCET Secondary School upon their successfully completion of primary education in n government schools in the city. Kids from this center and neighbors of the school are getting first priority in enrollment on students at HOCET Secondary as long as they qualify to be there.
Kids have been living at the center all their lives and sometimes in a year during vacation some of them use to go and stay with their relatives and come back when school opens. While at the center kids are getting remedial class in English language, Mathematics and Computer skills as their basic foundation towards further education regarding that they will be joining English medium Secondary School which will help them to easily perceive the subjects. Kids are also involves in general cleanliness of the home and their cloths especially during weekends.
The challenge which is now facing the centre the limited space which is not enough for the kids to stay comfortable and having sports fields. It is in the same building where HOCET head office is available hence make the building so busy. We have a plot of about one acre donated by our friend of which might be used either to build kids home or investments at Kimara- Bonyokwa just out-skirt of Dar City Centre. We are now seeking fund for the construction to start.
UPDATES
The Kimara project is underway. The building is about to be roofed very soon so as to adhere with deadline of the current contract in a rent house. We are still inviting people with good wills to support on construction materials. We need to fix 12 windows, costs US $ 3750: each window costs US $ 300 and planks for roofing costs 1125 US $.
