HOCET in its mission is together with remote cultivation whereby as from the year 2010 we have started involving in food crop production in Tanzania upcountry. The target crops are cereal and legume crops aiming at food self sustainability for both our centers.
We are aiming to go on producing maize, rice, beans, sunflower, pigeon peas etc. We see this as viable idea as comparing with fundraising events as the most reliable way. It is also going to teach much our students to be self sustainable in their future life too.
We are still inviting people who are interested in this project in various aspects such as expertise, funds, agricultural implements etc.
POULTRY PRODUCTION

HOCET is also investing in poultry production at HOCET Secondary School campus aiming at teaching students, income generating, getting manure for horticulture and nutrition improvements at the campus to both our students and staffs. We’re currently working with layers but later we plan to have broilers and local chickens too.
This is the first coop which has 1000 layers chickens which produces more than 600 eggs everyday.
HORTICULTURE:

For several years some trials have been done to our land at Mkuranga for various crops such as lettuce, tomatoes, spinach, egg plant, okra, carrot, onions and groundnuts all proved to be capable to the area, our preliminary consideration was the fact that our land is sandy, although the good thing is availability fresh water from the river bordering on the west of our entire land.
This is tomatoes plot as it was done in 2007
onions which were recently harvested at school
